Mónica Taher

Born in San Salvador, Mónica Taher is a technology and business strategist, entrepreneur, and former Technology & Business Innovation Director at the Government of El Salvador. During her tenure, she helped attract and onboard numerous companies to El Salvador following the country’s adoption of its Bitcoin Law.

Taher is a shareholder of RocketFuel, a global crypto and ACH payments company, and a partner at Avanti Group, Inc. and CleverSlot, an AI technology company focused on helping service businesses operate more efficiently.

In 2022, Bloomberg recognized Taher as one of the most influential people in business in Latin America. She is also a former CNN en Español technology commentator and a technology advisor who advocates for women’s adoption of technology as a tool for economic empowerment and closing the gender pay gap.

Throughout her career, Taher has worked with several Fortune 500 companies and major organizations, including IBM, Televisa Mexico, Globo Brazil, Grupo Digicel, and Getty Images Latin America, as well as with governments across Latin America.

In 2025, Taher and her team won first place in the AWS AI Pitch Competition, receiving $35,000 in AWS services to advance CleverSlot, an AI-powered platform designed to help service businesses automate scheduling, routing, and customer growth.

She has spoken at international conferences and institutions, including the Inter-American Development Bank’s Fintech Conference and the U.S. Department of State, as well as leading academic institutions such as Tecnológico de Monterrey and UNAM in Mexico City.

Taher is currently completing her doctoral thesis in journalism and public relations at the University of Seville, where her research focuses on political communication and digital media. She speaks Spanish, English, and Portuguese fluently.
